A NATURAL PARADISE OF REJUVENATION & HOLISTIC WELLBEING

Informed by the land, the design of Ngalung Kalla works in total harmony with Mother Nature – reflecting a deep respect for our planet and the utmost consideration for the local climate and indigenous Sumba community.

From glistening azure waters and fresh island air to balmy evenings under the stars as you listen to the waves kiss the shore – Ngalung Kalla is your natural paradise of rejuvenation and holistic wellbeing.

Accommodation

You’ll be staying in beautifully constructed open air bamboo bungalows, and sleeping on large and luxurious beds under mosquito nets. All bungalows are ocean-facing, have ample privacy, hot and cold outdoor showers, composting toilets, solar lighting, and overlook the spectacular coastline.

Spaces

With five bungalows, a yoga studio and spa space, lounge, oceanfront restaurant, and magnificent pool, the retreat caters to the discerning traveller who’s eager to get off the beaten path and into an adventure – with just the right amount of raw luxury.

Our 24m solar powered and salt water chlorinated infinity pool is accessible over a 60m cable bridge, spanning 20m above the forest below. The experience of swimming here is not to be missed – especially at sunset.

Surrounds

Ngalung Kalla Retreat is situated on the southwest coast of Sumba and spans 250 hectares of oceanfront and foreshore adventures.

Our beach is 225 steps from the restaurant through a fabulous little valley. All water activities can be accessed from the beach – a beautiful 400m long protected crescent with a captivating mix of sand as well as smooth, multicoloured cobblestones.

Extensive gardens throughout the property provide us with as much food as possible from the land. And a multitude of hiking trails surprise and delight adventurers.

Dining

Our restaurant is in the central common area and guests usually eat together on a mahogany picnic table under the stars. Our team of amazing ladies cook up all day long to keep us fueled for any and all adventures that grab us. Food is primarily vegetarian with lots of seafood from the surrounding waters. Think fresh, light, and locally sourced – with portions large enough to keep even the most avid athletes going strong.

Private dining can also be arranged on request.

“6am smoothies, morning surf sessions, afternoon yoga, incredible food directly from our earth, one uber-friendly chicken, the most incredible sunrise in the world and the most hospitable family!”
